Even if you’re unfamiliar with the kratom scene, you’ve undoubtedly heard that Mitragyna speciosa has a variety of forms. The three major types are red, green, and white kratom. Yellow vein versions of kratom are sometimes available as well.

Each type has its own unique characteristics and chemical makeup. Green vein kratom may be the most popular of the different types of kratom and is arguably the best kratom to choose when seeking a balance between happiness, motivation, and relaxation. It is often selected by those who use kratom for stimulation and relief simultaneously.

In this guide, we are going to go over everything from what green vein kratom is to how it’s grown to how to use it. By the time you’re done reading this, you’ll be able to discuss green vein kratom like an expert and know how to pick out the right product.

Green Vein Kratom: Some Background

Kratom originates in parts of southeast Asia including Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, and Papua New Guinea. It is an evergreen tree related to coffee that can grow to over 80′ in height.

Kratom has been used in its native regions throughout history as an herbal remedy for many different things, and we are currently seeing kratom use becoming more common in the United States. Green is one of the three main kratom types, the others being red and white. Each type of kratom comes in several varieties.

A kratom tree growing in the wild

White vein kratom is usually associated with energy while red kratom is said to be more sedative. Green vein kratom offers an ideal balance between the two, meaning it can support a positive mood without making you jittery or, on the other end of the spectrum, being tired.

Alkaloids

Kratom contains plant chemicals referred to as alkaloids. The two most famous of these are mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine. Mitragynine is a partial opioid receptor agonist, meaning it acts on the parts of the brain responsible for controlling the level of pain you feel. This is the feature that makes kratom so popular.

Because it also works on the alpha-2 adrenergic, serotonin, and dopamine systems, it is responsible for many of the stimulant properties mentioned by kratom users and is the primary driver of the effects felt from white kratom strains.

7-hydroxymitragynine is also active at the opioid receptors but in a different capacity. It is usually associated with decreased energy and amplified pain relief, as users typically see with red vein kratom strains. As kratom is exposed to sunlight, heat, and humidity, its alkaloids undergo oxidation and other changes. These three variables can be reconfigured to yield varying levels of alkaloid transformation.

During the process of oxidation, mitragynine turns into 7-hydroxymitragynine and the ratios of other alkaloids are altered. These chemical changes are purposefully controlled by farmers as the leaves dry. As the levels of each particular chemical change, so do the effects of the leaf. The particular process a farmer treats his leaves to is commonly referred to by a strain name.

How Green Vein Kratom Powder is Made

Despite popular belief, kratom is not considered to be green vein simply because it came from green leaves with green veins. In fact, kratom leaves can vary in color, even on the same tree, as a result of environmental conditions.

What gives green kratom its name are the techniques used to cure the leaf after harvest and before processing. An average green cure can be achieved by keeping humidity, light, and heat at a moderate level.

For batches dried exclusively outdoors, setting the leaf outside in Indonesia’s climate for a day is good enough to achieve a green cure. Shade is preferred to avoid the oxidizing effects of direct sunlight, especially toward the end of the cure.

Other farmers choose to dry indoors, or even partially indoors, with artificial UV lights. The harvested, sorted kratom is hung from special drying racks as seen in the photos throughout this article. Each production method creates a different end product.

Effects of Green Kratom

Now that we know a little more about what green vein kratom is, let’s go over some of the effects it is said to produce. Green kratom, like all other strains, has unique alkaloid profiles that give it specific characteristics.

The most common green kratom effects are:

  • Positive mood support
  • Pain relief
  • Relaxation
  • Enhanced energy
  • Increased focus
  • Stress reduction
  • Boosted productivity

These effects are not always experienced by every user and can be affected by factors such as kratom dosage and tolerance as well as individual physiology. That being said, strains of green are normally well-rounded and provide a good starting point for new users. It is also a popular option for those who have to manage pain and stress on a daily basis.

Side Effects

Green kratom, like all other strains of kratom, can have some potential side effects. These are usually dose-dependent and more likely to occur when green kratom is taken in large quantities or by users with a low tolerance.

The most common green vein kratom side effects are:

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Constipation
  • Headache
  • Loss of appetite

As with any substance, it is always important to start with a lower dose and increase gradually as needed. This will help you avoid any unpleasant side effects and find the perfect dosage for your needs.

Forms of Green Vein Kratom

There are many ways to consume kratom, including powder, pills, edibles, tea, and extracts. Each form varies in its strength or alkaloid concentration. Powder is the most popular one because it is easy to measure precise doses and can be taken directly or added to food or drinks. It is not, however, soluble in water.

Some users prefer to toss-and-wash, which is when they simply place the powder in their mouth, chasing it down with a drink as if it were a pill. That said, It has a very bitter taste that few can tolerate.

Also, kratom capsules are available for those seeking a convenient way to take green kratom that doesn’t involve tasting it, though this form isn’t as popular as powder. This is because capsules can be more expensive and harder to find in some strains.

Edibles are common food items made with kratom inside. Some of the edibles on the market include caramel chews, mints, honey, gummies, and even cookies. The level of kratom chemicals inside each can vary drastically depending on the type of kratom strain.

Green vein kratom is also sold in tea form in some stores. Tea is made by heating up water and steeping the kratom leaf for some time before straining the mixture into a cup or serving pitcher to drink. Most kratom teas contain anywhere from 6-12 g of kratom.

Extracts are a more expensive form of kratom because they are harder to produce. The extraction process separates alkaloids from the plant material, which can then be discarded. The result is a product that you have to take much less of to achieve the same effects.

How to Find Your Ideal Dose of Green Kratom

You’ll want to watch your dose very carefully when experimenting with green vein kratom. Taking too much can result in nausea, which is very unpleasant and passes only with time. If you are new to kratom, it’s best to start on the low end and then add more about an hour down the road. You can always add more, but you can’t take away.

Powder and capsules are the most common ways to take kratom, but kratom extracts are becoming more popular as time goes on. When using powder, we usually recommend most people start with anywhere from 1-3 grams. To help picture this, know that a flat, semi-packed teaspoon holds about 2.4 g of kratom. Most capsules contain about 500-650 mg of kratom powder, so this would equate to 2-6 capsules.

While this may sound like a lot of pills to swallow, this method avoids having to taste the powder at all. Plus, capsules are portable. Edibles and extracts will vary in dosage due to the difference in extract concentration. You will want to pay attention to the percentage of alkaloids in the extract used so you can calculate its equivalent in grams of kratom.

Careful attention to detail is needed here to avoid overdose, so these forms are best for experienced kratom consumers. For example, take hypothetical capsules that contain 518 mg each of 29% mitragynine powder. By multiplying these two numbers, we see that there is 150 mg of mitragynine in each capsule.

Different strains of kratom contain varied levels of each alkaloid, but the best green vein kratom contains roughly 1.5 mg. That means each capsule is equal to about 10 g of kratom powder, a very heavy dose. A reputable vendor will provide these numbers for you so you can calculate your dosages properly.

The same goes for edibles. You should be able to find the alkaloid content either on the product’s page or its label. Gummies and chewables contain anywhere from 5-15 mg of mitragynine each, while specialty edibles like brownies or cookies may contain as much as 60-90 mg.

Remember, there are about 15 mg per gram in the best green kratom, so use that to convert your amounts to a common unit. Store-bought or prepared kratom tea usually contains anywhere from 90-180 mg based on serving size, which would be the equivalent of 6-12 g of kratom leaf. Again, don’t be afraid to ask for details before or during your purchase.

After ingestion, it takes roughly 45 minutes for most people to feel the effects of kratom. These effects usually last for around four hours, though this may vary due to the differences in alkaloid content between strains.

Types of Green Kratom

With the many variables that can be controlled to yield different types of green kratom leaves, there are countless green vein kratom strains available on the market. Here we discuss our best-selling kinds.

Green Maeng Da

Green Maeng Da is our top-selling green vein kratom of all time. Maeng Da kratom consistently contains some of the highest mitragynine content based on lab testing, coming in at around 1.5-2.3% based on seasonality. An exception is Red Maeng da, which tends to yield a more sedative and relaxing kratom journey.

Due to its high mitragynine content, Green vein Maeng Da kratom tends to act as a great pain reliever while simultaneously boosting mood through its actions on the alpha-2 adrenergic, serotonin, and dopamine receptor sites in the body. Its effects are usually stimulation at lower doses with sedation appearing with heavy doses.

Green Malay

Green Malay kratom is also one of our best sellers and is one of the more commonly found strains throughout the industry. It is higher in overall alkaloids than other strains, which is why it serves as the base for Super Green Malay kratom powder.

Its most noticeable effect for many people is its ability to reduce the amount of anxiety felt in the presence of large crowds. It sort of acts like a stress reliever in these situations Despite its calming nature, it is not sedative like red vein kratom. In fact, it provides a boost in motivation that many feel makes it a great alternative to light doses of alcohol.

Green Dayak

Named after the Dayak people of Borneo, Green Dayak is another strain exclusive to Socratic Solutions. Our Green Dayak is grown along the banks of the Kapuas Hulu River in Indonesian Borneo, where environmental conditions are virtually perfect for growing kratom trees.

Due to these conditions, this strain is usually especially high in the alkaloid called paynantheine, which promotes energy through its ability to influence the way the body regulates dopamine, but perhaps not as much as white vein kratom strains. Even though it can provide an energy boost similar to the one felt by caffeine, it is not a central nervous system stimulant overall and won’t make users jittery or nervous.

Buying Quality Green Vein Kratom

There are a few key things to take into consideration when searching for when shopping, whether you like to buy kratom online or from a brick-and-mortar location. These are:

  • Selection: Dozens of green vein varieties of kratom are available, some more different than others. Most vendors only sell a handful based on either availability or customer demand. Even for offline stores, you can usually see a product selection on the company’s website.
  • Shipping: What shipping options are available? How fast does the company ship? Is shipping free at any point and are there any upgrades available for spending a certain dollar amount? These are all questions with answers that vary between different retailers.
  • Lab testing: Are the company’s products tested for contaminants before sale? It is important to ensure a marketed product is free of things like lead, cadmium, mercury, E. coli, and salmonella as these things have been associated with dirty kratom batches in the past. A reputable kratom vendor won’t hide their lab results or make them hard to access before a purchase. Also, forged results have been an issue within the kratom industry.
  • Pricing: What are the price points? Of course, nobody wants to overpay for anything they buy, but be wary of the cheapest options available. Cheap vendors compete on price, not quality, so think twice before ordering that $5 ounce or trying a $60 kilogram. This is often old or weak, mass-produced, generic kratom in disguise.
  • Reputation: A great source of information before a purchase is reviews from fellow customers. See what people have to say about the strains you’re interested in before you buy. If you’re using reviews from the company’s website, just make sure they are verified reviews as these are certified by a third-party company to have come directly from the consumer.

Conclusion

We have covered a lot of ground regarding green vein kratom here. To summarize, this kratom variety creates an ideal balance between relaxation and stimulation and different strains can yield specific benefits like stress relief and a reduction in anxiety.

There is a wide range of green kratom products available on the market, not all of which are created equally. Remember to do a little homework on your supplier before placing an order or visiting a store to ensure you get the best possible product for the price you pay.

Hopefully, this has helped to shine a little light on why this variety of kratom is so popular. Thanks for
