A Collection of Kratom & Alkaloid Science

At Socratic Solutions, we believe in science and the Socratic method. As retailers of kratom products we also feel that it is our responsibility to stay informed about the product we offer. Part of that responsibility is kratom research, which we believe should be shared always to encourage intelligent discussion and informed decision making.

The following is a live collection of research data that we uncovered through the censored search results, fake news, and incessant propaganda. Specifics vary, but all pieces discuss kratom as a whole or its individual alkaloids. We try our best to keep only credible information here, but please let us know of any retractions if you see any.

In some cases we can not link to a full text version of the article due to access restrictions. To read these articles in full, please paste the DOI number into Sci-Hub (science should not be hidden behind a paywall or limited to your institutional or corporate affiliations). We will add to this as we locate more credible pieces of information.

“There is a general consensus among community members and leaders, academics and policymakers, as well as public health and law enforcement representatives in southern Thailand that kratom use and dependence carry little, if any, health risks. In general, people reported that kratom (use and dependence) is less harmful than heroin, yaba, cannabis and even alcohol,”
