If you’re looking for a way to improve your workout performance, kratom might be the answer. Kratom is a natural plant that has been used for centuries in Southeast Asia for its medicinal properties. It can help boost energy levels and control appetite, making it the perfect supplement for anyone who wants to get in shape. In this blog post, we will discuss how you can use kratom for working out and how it can help maintain a healthy diet.

What is Kratom?

Kratom is a tropical evergreen tree from the coffee family. It is native to Southeast Asia and has been used for centuries in traditional medicine. The kratom plant contains over 50 compounds, including alkaloids and flavonoids.

These compounds interact with the body’s systems to produce different effects. At lower doses, kratom acts as a stimulant, while at higher doses it has sedative effects.

The most well known compounds in kratom, including mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine, act on the opioid receptors in the brain. This reduces the perception of pain. Kratom also leads to increased levels of dopamine in brain, which improves mood.

Additionally, kratom interacts with the serotonergic systems to stimulate the release of serotonin. Serotonin, like dopamine, improves mood. It’s biggest benefit, and how it relates to using kratom for workout out, is that it can drastically decrease appetite.

Kratom and Appetite Control

You might be one of the people who can’t seem to put on any fat no matter how poorly they eat. If that’s you, this section may not necessarily apply. If you’re like the remaining 90% of us, read on.

It doesn’t matter if you’re trying to build muscle or lose fat, you will achieve the best results if you can keep your diet clean. If you’re trying to put weight on, chances are you would like most of the weight gain to come from muscle instead of fat.

When we mention a clean diet, we mean one that is low in bad fats and sugars. Specifically, sugars that induce a sharp insulin response in the body. Since increased insulin levels are associated with increased fat storage, it is desirable to keep insulin levels under control.

This doesn’t mean to eliminate carbohydrates, however. You should just make sure that your carbs come from complex sources that provide sustainable energy and aren’t so quickly processed by the body.

Since this article will not go in-depth regarding advanced dieting topics, we will simply say that kratom’s mechanisms of actions cause a reduction in appetite, which makes it easier to make sensible dieting decisions. Since your diet has so much to do with the gains you make in the gym, making these decisions easier makes it smart to use kratom for working out.

As far as adjusting your strategy to align with your goals, you must pay attention to the amount of calories you put into your body.

Kratom and Calories

In order to gain, you need to consume more calories than you burn through a combination of exercise and simply living your daily life. The opposite is true for losing weight. To get an idea of your daily caloric needs, you can use an online calculator.

Calculators work by first figuring your basal metabolic rate, which is the amount of calories you burn at rest throughout a 24-hour period. Then, it estimates how many calories you burn through physical activity and adds the total totals together to get a daily requirement.

The problem with most calculators and equations is that they fail to take into account a person’s body composition. Your body weight is made up of both muscle and fat, but it’s only the muscle that’s responsible for burning calories.

This means that two people who weigh the same can have vastly different calorie requirements. The person with more muscle will require more calories to maintain their weight, while the person with less muscle will require fewer calories.

For example, take two individuals that weigh 200 pounds apiece. One has a body fat level of 10%, which means there are 180 lean pounds. The other has a body fat percentage of 25%, which means he has 150 lean pounds on his frame.

Using the Cunningham equation, which accounts for body composition, we see that the first individual needs approximately 600 calories more per day simply to maintain his body weight. He would adjust up or down from there depending on what he was trying to do with his body.

The Cunningham equation is as follows:

Daily calories = 500 + (22 * lean body mass)

If you don’t know your lean body weight, you can always use the Harris-Benedict formula as follows:

Daily calories = 655.0955 + 9.5634 × weight (kg) + 1.8496 × height (cm) – 4.6756 × age (y)

As far as the metric conversions go, just remember that you get your weight in kilograms by dividing your body weight by 2.2, and you get your height in centimeters by multiplying your height in inches by 2.54.

Once you have your daily caloric requirements, you need to add or subtract based on what your goals are. If your goal is to gain lean muscle mass, you should add 500-1,000 calories per day depending on your metabolism. If you’re trying to lose fat, subtract the same to lose 1-2 pounds per week.

These figures represent rough estimates and are useful as starting points only. When using kratom for working out, you will need to adjust up or down based on what type of results you are getting. You likely plan to keep track of your body weight, which is useful, but not entirely helpful if you are trying to change the composition of your body.

As you gain muscle and lose fat, the scale may stay the same as your body is improving. When this is happening, you usually notice your pants are getting looser, you’re getting stronger, but your weight isn’t changing. This is where measurements come in handy.

Buy a cheap measuring tape and record measurements of your waistline, thighs, arms, and chest (males) or hips (females). By combining your weight with these measurements, you can usually tell what is going on in terms of body fat and muscle.

Kratom for Working Out

So we have so far covered how kratom can help your fitness goals outside of the gym, let’s talk about using kratom for working out.

Kratom can be a great asset to have during your workout. The thing kratom is most known for is its energy-boosting effects. This can be extremely useful when you’re trying to push through a tough workout.

In addition to the energy, kratom also provides pain relief. This can come in handy if you’re dealing with any nagging injuries or soreness from previous workouts. Kratom can help you push through the pain and get the most out of your workout.

The key to using kratom for working out is finding the right strain and dose. Too much kratom can lead to nausea, which is obviously not ideal during a workout.

A good starting point is around two grams of kratom for mild effects and four grams for stronger effects. If you’re new to kratom, it’s always best to start on the lower end and work your way up.

As far as strains go, there are a few that are known to be particularly helpful during workouts. Maeng Da is a good all-around strain that provides energy and pain relief.

For more of a focus boost, something like Green Malay or Green Borneo can be helpful. These strains can help you get in the zone and power through your workout.

If you’re looking for pain relief, red kratom strains are generally the best option. Red Elephant or Red Bali can help take the edge off any aches and pains you may be feeling. Of course, options like these are usually more popular post-workout than beforehand.

Conclusion

No matter what your fitness goals are, it can be helpful to use kratom for working out. By increasing dopamine levels and providing energy and pain relief, kratom can help you make the most out of your workout. Just be sure to start with a low dose and find the right strain for you.
